MODSIM World 2008 Conference and Expo

MODSIM World 2008 Conference and Expo (Sept. 16-18, 2008)

Spotlights Modeling, Simulation, Visualization, and Game-Based Learning

Mark your calendars to attend the MODSIM WORLD 2008 Conference and Expo September 16 - 18, 2008 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, Virginia Beach, Virginia. This premier international conference sets the stage for collaboration and the transfer of new knowledge, research, and applied technology to virtual and simulation environments and synthetic learning. At MODSIM WORLD 2008 you will experience, first hand, modeling, simulation, visualization, and game-based learning (GBL) as essential technology-based tools for teaching and integrating science in the 21st Century.  These tools empower you to develop and implement authentic, project/problem-based learning and design-driven instruction. They are indispensable elements for global competitiveness and workforce development.  In the hands of Virginia's science teachers, these tools support the SoLs, engage students, energize "teaching and learning," and create exciting and unique educational opportunities.

Five Great Reasons to Attend!

  • Increase your knowledge by interacting and networking with colleagues and experts.
  • Attend MODSIM workshops, symposiums, and tutorials; interacting with speakers and presenters; and participating in panels and roundtables to understand how to effectively implement modeling, simulation, visualization, and game-based learning (GBL) into classroom instruction...
  • Share your knowledge. Deliver a paper or presentation on theory, practice, research, development, implementation or evaluation of modeling, simulation, and game-based learning. Or, create MODSIM teaching and learning applications and implementation strategies.
  • Earn Continuing Education Units (C.E.U).
  • Receive a special K-12 educator registration fee ($125.00 early registration, $175.00 register at the door). Pre-service teachers can attend at reduced cost. Two pricing opportunities exist:

A 1-day pass is $50.  A 3-day pass is $100.  Neither option includes meals.

What Will You Learn?

You will be exposed to:

  • subject-matter experts,
  • exemplary models of immersive technology and synthetic and virtual learning environments,
  • technology insertion and lessons learned,
  • policies and factors that encourage the use of these technologies in the classroom and science curriculum,
  • the role played by standards in implementation and assessment, and
  • a vision for how modeling, simulation, and GBL will produce 21st Century classrooms.

How Do I Register?
